Why this is the answer

Betting closed, the rest is pending.

Sporttrade operated under state gaming licences, none in Rhode Island, where sports betting is offered through the state lottery and a single platform. In May 2026 it announced it would exit United States online sports betting, ending wagering in its licensed states by 26 June 2026. It has filed to run a prediction market under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, but the product is not live, so a Rhode Island resident has nothing to use today.

The short version

As of March 2026 the answer is no. Sporttrade has exited United States online sports betting, ending operations in its licensed states by 26 June 2026, and it never operated in Rhode Island. It filed applications with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in February 2026 to run a prediction market, and that review is still open, so no Sporttrade product is available to Rhode Island residents now. Confirm the current position before you act.

The detail

Why Sporttrade is closed to a Rhode Island reader

Rhode Island offers sports betting through its state lottery and a single contracted platform, a closed model that never had space for an exchange operator such as Sporttrade. As a result Sporttrade was not available to Rhode Island residents, which was the case well before the company changed course.

In May 2026 Sporttrade announced its exit from United States online sports betting, with wagering in its licensed states such as New Jersey, Colorado, Arizona, Iowa and Virginia ending on 25 May 2026 and all betting operations finishing by 26 June 2026, as reported widely. It then filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in February 2026 to operate a prediction market as a Designated Contract Market and a clearing organization. The review was still open as of March 2026, and federal reviews of this kind can extend well beyond a period of 180 days.

For a Rhode Island reader the bottom line is that no Sporttrade product is open to you, now or before. If you want to follow event contracts through a federally regulated venue, the platforms below are generally available to verified United States residents, subject to age and identity verification and any product specific state limits. Our Rhode Island legality guide sets out the state picture, and any future Sporttrade launch should be read as conditional on a federal approval that has not arrived.

Availability is indicative and individual states may restrict specific products, sports event contracts in particular. Scores are illustrative editorial examples. Sporttrade is not among the venues open to you here today. Confirm the current position before acting.

A note on risk

A clear regulator does not make any contract safe to over trade. Prediction markets and event contracts can lose you money. Trade only what you can afford to lose, never to chase a loss, and never with borrowed money. If it stops feeling like a choice, step back. In the United States you can call or text 1-800-GAMBLER or visit ncpgambling.org. You must be 18+ or the legal age in your region.
